Department Head at the Forensic Psychiatric Regional Clinic
In Region Kronoberg, we are 6,500 people working for the best of the residents of Kronoberg – every day! The Forensic Psychiatric Regional Clinic provides high-quality forensic psychiatric care and is one of the country's five regional clinics within forensic psychiatry. In addition to regional assignments, the clinic has a national intake. Most of the clinic's patients are referred by the courts for care. The assignment also includes receiving patients from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service who need psychiatric care. The clinic consists of 11 inpatient wards and one outpatient service, with approximately 450 employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a department head, you will lead the daily operations of a forensic psychiatric ward and be responsible for both staff, work environment, and the development of the operations, overseeing approximately 25 - 30 employees. You will ensure a safe, structured, and patient-safe care environment where quality and safety are always in focus. You will belong to a team of department heads reporting to the area manager. As a department head, it is important to view forensic psychiatry as a whole.
- You lead, coach, and support employees in their daily work. You are responsible for recruitment, professional development, and employee evaluations.
- You drive and develop the ward's care processes in line with the clinic's goals, guidelines, and legislation. You follow up on quality indicators, routines, and patient safety work.
- You ensure a safe work environment and systematically work with risk assessments, incident management, and safety in an environment with special protection requirements.
- You plan, follow up, and analyze the ward's budget, staffing needs, and resource utilization.
- You collaborate with nurses, doctors, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, treatment pedagogues, and behavioral scientists, among others, to create a holistic and evidence-based care.
- You will have close cooperation with your section leader on the ward and the staffing planner, who provides managerial support regarding schedules and staffing.
- You initiate and drive improvement projects and develop routines.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a university or college degree in healthcare, behavioral science, or social work. Experience in leadership and working with the current patient clientele is considered an advantage. We prefer candidates who have a coaching leadership style and are comfortable delegating responsibilities to employees. You need to be able to see the big picture and have a good ability to collaborate, structure, and set goals for the operations together with the clinic's management. You have a knack for building good relationships, care about a positive work climate, and represent a visible, clear, and engaged leadership.
The forensic psychiatric care sector is constantly facing challenges, which requires a vision for the future, job satisfaction, and a strong focus on operational development. Therefore, the ability to lead, engage, and motivate your employees in continuous development work is essential. Together, we make a difference.
